Nigerian box-office powerhouse Toyin Abraham is set to headline and produce the upcoming comedy Oversabi Aunty, a sharp, character-driven crowd-pleaser currently.

The film, which was developed under Toyin Abraham’s eponymous production company in partnership with FilmOne Studios, follows a self-styled “superwoman” whose need to manage everyone’s life—whether or not they ask for it—spirals into hilarious chaos when she her holy overzealousness peaks at a disastrous wedding introduction, forcing her to confront the chaos she’s created.

A witty dramedy about faith, family, and the fine line between devotion and delusion.

Abraham will star as the titular “oversabi aunty,” with Efe Irele, Bianca Ugowanne, Queen Nwokoye, Jemima Osunde, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and Kolawole Ajeyemi joining the ensemble. Additional casting announcements are underway.

Described by producers as “a love letter to Lagos’ loudest aunties ,” the film blends broad comedy with social commentary about community, gossip culture and reinvention. Principal photography is complete with a release date set for December 19th.

The project continues Abraham’s run of producing commercially successful Nigerian comedies including Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper and Alakada Reloaded, both of which are among the highest-grossing local releases in Nollywood.

FilmOne will handle distribution across West Africa.
